Rare Fungus discovered under the trees in the Churchyard

The Parish Clerk and Sarah Thomas, who lives in the village and is an arboriculturalist, were inspecting the trees in the Church field and Church yard on a cold January Saturday morning when they discovered lumps of spongy looking substance under some of the trees.  Sarah has since researched it and discovered it to be Ganodera Carnosum which is a rare fungus.  The discovery means that the environment in the churchyard is diverse and undisturbed allowing it to flourish.  Read more about it here https://www.first-nature.com/fungi/ganoderma-carnosum.php
