Rob enjoyed a long career in the Royal Air Force mainly operating the Hercules transport aircraft based at RAF Lyneham, but he also served in Germany, India, the USA and the Philippines. He returned to their home in Brinkworth where he was a parish councillor, and for a number of years, he was Chairman of the Brinkworth Heritage Society raising funds for local good causes. Rob and Valerie moved to Minal in 2010 and Rob continued his interest in local affaires and soon joined Minal Parish Council where he is responsible for emergency planning. Rob was the editor of The Parish Pump for 6 years and remains a compiler of the Minal Newsletter. He is also Chairman of Minal Village Hall.
