Minal Garden Show a success

Saturday 9 September was hot and sunny but this didn’t deter entries for the Minal Garden Show.  This was the first show since Covid and after a dodgy summer Minal Gardening club were delighted with the standard of entries.  Best in Show was awarded to Jaki Thompson and the Mutch family were commended for a large number of entries.   Judges, Ros Carmichael, Valerie Hammerton and Helen Slater were impressed with the work that had gone into the growing and the craft entries.

Thank you to everyone who braved the heat to view the entries and enjoy refreshments,  The iced squash proved particularly popular along with delicious cakes provided by volunteers from the Gardening club who were on hand all day, from setting up at 8.00am, organising the judging, writing the certificates, manning the refreshments and tidying up at 4.00pm.  Thanks go to Milly Carmichael, Nick Beere, Helen and Steffan Sumner, Helen Slater, Valerie Hammerton, Tup Lawson, Jane Harris, Melanie Clark, Val Bailey, Jaki Thompson and Sue Hine.
